Wolverines fall on road

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 61-51 verdict to host Juniata Monday night in non-conference action at Memorial Gymnasium.

Juniata (4-2) closed the first half with a 16-4 run and owned a 29-17 halftime lead. Grove City (2-3) pulled to within 37-34 with 13 minutes left in the game but the host Eagles pulled away down the stretch. Juniata led by as many as 19, 56-37, in the second half.

Junior guard Joe Capotosta (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) led Grove City with 11 points. Senior center Craig Hallman (Ellwood City, Pa./Riverside) pulled in a game-high 14 rebounds. Grove City committed 19 turnovers and shot just 34 percent (19 of 56) from the floor for the game. Ten of Grove City's 19 field goals were three-pointers.

Nick Hager led Juniata with 12 points. Juniata owned a 37-30 edge on the glass. Juniata also went 18 of 30 at the foul line while Grove City made three of six attempts.

The Wolverines will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon against Waynesburg at 3 p.m. in the Grove City College Arena.
