Westminster tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team held visiting Westminster to a season-low 71 points Wednesday night. However, Grove City shot just 8 of 28 (29 percent) from the floor in the second half and fell to Westminster, 71-59, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.

Grove City led 35-33 at the half as junior guard Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) fired in a season-high 23 points in the first half. Carr also tied a Grove City single-game record with six three-point goals. Carr did not score in the second half, however.

Westminster (15-7, 7-2 PAC) closed the game on a 21-6 run. Craig Hannon scored 10 of his team-high 15 points during the run for the Titans. Dom Joseph added 14 points for Westminster while Greg Rosatelli chipped in 13 points. Westminster also out-rebounded Grove City (12-10, 5-5 PAC), 46-32.

For the game, Westminster shot 38 percent (21 of 55) while Grove City shot 36 percent (20 of 56). Junior guard Ryan Gerber (Baltic, Ohio/Garaway) added nine points and five rebounds for Grove City.

It is Westminster's first win at Grove City since 2002.

Grove City will visit Saint Vincent Saturday night at 8 p.m.
