Grove City falls

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 64-60 decision to visiting Geneva Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena.

Grove City forced Geneva into 26 turnovers. However, Geneva shot 50 percent (22 for 44) from the field, including a 15-for-23 (65 percent) effort in the second half. Conversely, Grove City shot just 35 percent (23 of 65) for the game.

Senior center Kris Verderber (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) led Grove City with 12 points while freshman guard J.T. Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) added 11 points. Senior guard Brett Matson (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. Schwartz also recorded four steals. The Wolverines had just 13 turnovers.

Dave Phillips led Geneva (3-6, 2-2 PAC) with 18 points and nine rebounds. Lambos Svingos added 14 points and 13 rebounds. Geneva led 20-19 at halftime.

Grove City (4-4, 1-3 PAC) visits Hiram Wednesday night in non-conference action at 7:30 p.m.
