Grove City falls on road, 64-60

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 64-60 decision at Saint Vincent Saturday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Carey Center.

Grove City trailed 46-37 with 11 minutes left but charged back with an 11-0 run. Freshman guard Isaiah Reeves (Pittsburgh, Pa./Perry) ignited the comeback with a jumper and sophomore guard Josh Patterson (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) followed with a transition jumper.

Sophomore forward Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) drilled a mid-range jumper before Reeves tied the game with a three-pointer. The Wolverines then took the lead on a lauyp by freshman center Mark Pilarski (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) with seven minutes left.

Saint Vincent (16-5, 11-1 PAC) reclaimed the lead with a 6-0 run and went 5 for 6 at the foul line in the final minute to sew up the win.

Sophomore guard J.T. Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) led all scorers with 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 4-for-5 marksmanship on three-pointers. Reeves and Giesler both added nine points.

Both teams went 24 of 51 (47 percent) from the field for the game. Pilarski grabbed six rebounds, helping Grove City own a 30-27 edge on the glass. Sophomore guard Mitch Marmelstein (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's) recorded five assists for Grove City and Schwartz had four.

Isaac Turner led Saint Vincent with 17 points.

Grove City (7-14, 3-9 PAC) will visit Washington & Jefferson Wednesday at 8 p.m. in conference play.
