Wolverines fall at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 61-54 decision Wednesday night at Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Henry Memorial Center.

Junior forward Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) led Grove City (6-8, 3-3 PAC) with 13 points while junior guard J.T. Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) posted 12 points. Junior guard Mitch Marmelstein (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's) added 10 points.

Grove City shot just 19 for 55 (35 percent) from the floor while W&J went 20 of 53 (38 percent) from the field.

Junior guard Josh Patterson (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) and sophomore center Erik Carlstrom (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) both had a team-high five rebounds. Patterson also had three steals.

Nate Bellhy led W&J (8-7, 3-3 PAC) with 14 points and 15 rebounds. W&J owned a 42-35 edge in rebounds. W&J had 13 turnovers while Grove City had 15 turnovers. W&J led 26-23 at halftime.

Grove City will visit conference rival Thiel Saturday at 3 p.m. in Greenville.
