Waynesburg tops Grove City

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 70-55 decision at Waynesburg Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Rudy Marisa Field House.

Waynesburg (2-5, 1-1 PAC) jumped out to a 20-11 lead in the first half and never trailed in Saturday's game.

Senior guard Mitch Marmelstein (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's) paced Grove City (4-3, 1-1) with 13 points. Junior swingman Caleb Knudsen (Saylorsville, Pa./Pius X) added eight points and a team-high six rebounds.

Jason Propst led Waynesburg with 15 points. Waynesburg shot 55 percent (26 for 47) from the field while Grove City went 19 for 51 (37 percent) on field goal attempts.

Waynesburg held a 29-26 edge in rebounds. Knudsen and senior guard J.T. Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) both had four assists. Schwartz also had three steals.

Grove City will visit Oberlin in non-conference play Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
