Grove City falls in conference play

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 68-65 decision to visiting Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Grove City College Arena.

Senior guard J.T. Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) fired in 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting for Grove City (5-6, 1-2 PAC) while senior guard Mitch Marmelstein (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's) added 12 points. Freshman center Cory Huff (Kersey, Pa./Elk County Catholic) chipped in 10 points.

Grove City shot 24 of 49 (49 percent) from the field for the game and committed just 11 turnovers. Geneva went 22 for 45 (49 percent) from the field, including a 13-for-23 (57 percent) outing in the second half.

Junior swingman Caleb Knudsen (Saylorsville, Pa./Pius X) grabbed six rebounds and added five assists for Grove City, which led 29-26 at halftime. Geneva (4-8, 2-2) owned a 29-27 edge in rebounds. Marmelstein added four assists.

Jacob Jaros led Geneva with 16 points.

Grove City will host conference foe Westminster at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
