Wolverines Fall To Marietta, 92-73
GROVE CITY, PA, November 23, 1999--Four Wolverines scored in double-figures, but it was Marietta's Jesse DuPerow who led the visiting Pioneers to a 92-73 victory with 35 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots. Marietta remained unbeaten at 3-0, while Grove City fell to 1-2.
Lee Huffman (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) scored a team-high 16 points for the Wolverines on 6-for-8 shooting. Chris Kreider (Hummeltown, PA/Lower Dauphin) tallied 11 points, while Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) and Tanner Prosser (Brentwood, PA/Brentwood) chipped in with 10 each. Prosser added seven boards and Meling six assists.
Grove City, who trailed 51-36 at halftime, couldn't get any closer than 11 points down with 10 minutes left to play.
The game marked the first meeting between the two schools since 1921-22. The Wolverines had won each of the first four meetings.
