Behrend Beats GCC, 62-56

GROVE CITY, PA, December 1, 1999--Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting, but visiting Penn State Behrend rallied to defeat Grove City, 62-56.

The Lions, who have won the last six meetings against the Wolverines, improved to 4-0.  Grove City fell to 1-3.

Grove City, who led 32-27 at halftime, went up by as many as six points with 16 minutes left in regulation.  Behrend tied the game four times in the next 10 minutes but didn't lead until 2:32 when Chris Hughes, the Lions' high scorer with 18 points, knocked down a pair of free throws to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Dan Quinn (Uniontown, OH/Green) and Lee Huffman (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) each chipped in with eight points.  Quinn added eight rebounds.  Tanner Prosser (Brentwood, PA/Brentwood) had seven points, nine boards and five assists.

Meling was a perfect 2-for-2 from outside the arc and 2-for-2 at the free-throw line.
