Wolverines Fall in OT at E-Town

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA, January 7, 2000--Dave Pifer (Sarver, PA/Freeport) scored a game-high 18 points, including four threes, but Grove City dropped a 79-76 overtime decision to Salisbury State in the opening round of the Elizabethtown College Tournament.

The Wolverines, who fell to 2-9, play Dickinson in Saturday's consolation at 1:00 p.m.  Salisbury State, now 6-4, advances to the 3:00 p.m. championship game against Elizabethtown, who defeated Dickinson, 82-62, Friday.

Grove City out-shot (55% to 46%) and out-rebounded Salisbury State (39 to 23), but committed nine more turnovers and converted just 9 of 18 from the free-throw line.

Joining Pifer in double figures were Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) with 17 points on 8-for-12 shooting and Tanner Prosser (Brentwood, PA/Brentwood) with 10 points.  Kreider added six rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots.  Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) grabbed a team-high eight boards, while Damon Finazzo (Erie, PA/McDowell) chipped in with five assists.

The Wolverines trailed 44-43 at halftime, tied the game 71-71 at the end of regulation and were outscored 8-5 in the extra session.

Victor Jackson scored a team-high 16 points for the Sea Gulls.
