Wolverines Shut Down Bison in PAC Opener Box Score BETHANY, WV, January 19, 2000--Grove City nailed 21 of 26 free throws and held host Bethany to 24% shooting in a 59-46 victory on opening night in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The defending PAC champs, winners of three straight and four of five, improved to 6-10 overall, 1-0 PAC. The Bison fell to 5-9, 0-1 PAC. Dan Quinn (Uniontown, OH/Green) led a balanced Wolverine scoring attack with 10 points. Tanner Prosser (Brentwood, PA/Brentwood) had nine points, while Damon Finazzo (Erie, PA/McDowell), Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) and David Stiansen (Telford, PA/Souderton) finished with eight each. Grove City led 24-23 after the first half despite shooting 38% from the floor. Bethany was held to 29% shooting in the first half (8-28) and 20% (6-30) in the second half. The Wolverines caught fire after intermission, hitting 57% from the field, including 4 of 5 from three-point territory. They also drained 15 of 20 from the stripe after going 6-for-6 in the first half. Prosser and Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) grabbed seven boards apiece as GCC outrebounded the Bison, 43-20. Pete Stokic and Keith Schubert tallied 14 points each for Bethany. The Wolverines host PAC-rival Thiel Saturday at 4:00 p.m. |
