Stiansen Drills D'Youville at Buzzer
BUFFALO, NY, February 16, 2000--David Stiansen (Telford, PA/Souderton) buried a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift Grove City over host D'Youville, 69-68, Wednesday night in Buffalo, NY.
Stiansen's triple from the corner was the Wolverines' 10th bucket from outside the arc. Dave Pifer (Sarver, PA/Freeport) tied a school record with six threes en route to 18 points. Mark Timko canned six on February 12, 1994 against Waynesburg. Stiansen fired in three treys and finished with 11 points.
Tanner Prosser (Brentwood, PA/Brentwood) scored a team-high 21 points for GCC, who improved to 10-14 overall. Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds in his second start of the season, while Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) collected seven assists.
The Wolverines trailed the Spartans at halftime, 35-28.
D'Youville fell to 4-18 overall.
Grove City, winner of two straight and four of five, hosts PAC foe Waynesburg in its season-final on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. A Wolverine victory combined with a Thiel loss to visiting Bethany would force a one-game playoff between GCC and Thiel to decide the PAC champion. The Tomcats bid to clinch the title outright on Wednesday came up short in a 71-65 loss at Washington & Jefferson.
