Wolverines win second straight invite WASHINGTON, PA, April 3, 2000--The Grove City College men's golf team placed first for the second time in as many matches, winning Monday's Lone Pine Invitational, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College. Grove City finished with a four-man total of 315 strokes, seven better than W&J's 322. Waynesburg took third with 325, while Thiel and Bethany followed in fourth and fifth, respectively, with totals of 356 and 368. Dave Pifer (Sarver, PA/Freeport) repeated as the low Wolverine with a round of 74, three shots behind medalist Jeff Dunn of Waynesburg. Mike Liptak (Sharon, PA/Kennedy Christian) fired a 76 to tie for third and Nate Miklos (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Christian) fell into a fifth-place tie with a 79. Chris Moreland (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg-Salem) rounded out GCC's sum with an 86. |
