Wolverines place fifth in
Meadville
MEADVILLE, PA, April 22, 2001--Wolverine junior Nate Miklos posted a top-10
finish in the field of 44 as the Grove City College men's golf team tied for
fifth place at the eight-school Allegheny College Golf Classic, held Saturday
and Sunday at The Country Club of Meadville.
Miklos fired a four-over 76 on Sunday after shooting a first-round 80. His 156 total was 13 strokes behind medalist Dave Whitaker of Allegheny, who carded rounds of 72 and 71 (143). Junior Mike Solesha tied for 19th overall with rounds of 80 and 79 (159).
Allegheny won the team title with 593 strokes, followed by Gannon (629), Westminster (635) and Pitt-Greensburg (638). Grove City tied its conference rival Washington & Jefferson for fifth place at 641. Mercyhurst (647) and Penn State Behrend (696) rounded out the team standings.
