Wolverines open season with second-place finish at Lone Pine

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team opened the 2003 season by finishing second at the Washington and Jefferson Golf Invitational Monday afternoon at Lone Pine Golf Club.

The Wolverines fired an aggregate 331. Host Washington and Jefferson won with a total of 312 strokes. Waynesburg (338) and Thiel (363) rounded out the four-team field.

Freshman Jon Cameron (Solon, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and sophomore Alex Intihar (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) tied for fifth in the 26-golfer field by each firing 81. Sophomore Brad Dutton (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) shot 84 while senior Dan Sumner (New Wilmington, Pa./Neshannock) carded an 85.
