Grove City takes 5th at Westminster Invitational
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team opened the 2006 season with a fifth-place finish at the 12-team Westminster Invitational Monday afternoon at New Castle Country Club. Grove City accumulated 328 team strokes, trailing only Allegheny (306), Malone (314), Carnegie Mellon (315) and St. Vincent (327).
Freshman Tyler Sorensen (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity) led Grove City with a round of 77, good sixth place overall. Sophomore Tyler Fitch (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) tied for 11th with a 79.
Grove City will host St. Vincent in a dual match Thursday afternoon at Grove City Country Club.
