Fitch earns medalist honor as Grove City takes 2nd
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team placed second at its own McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational Monday afternoon at Grove City Country Club. The Wolverines tallied 313 strokes, trailing only Westminster (310) in the team standings. Waynesburg (326), Bethany (330), Penn State Behrend (334), Thiel (334), Westminster "B" (344) and La Roche (358) rounded out the team standings.
Grove City sophomore Tyler Fitch (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) earned medalist honors with a round of 68. Fitch fired a 34 both going out and coming in. Carnegie Mellon's Alex Timmons took second with a 72 while Westminster's Gary McGovern shot a 73 for third.
Also for the Wolverines, freshman Dan Statler (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) tied for 11th with a 79.
Grove City will compete in the Waynesburg Invitational Thursday afternoon.
