Grove City 2nd at PAC Championships after 1st day

WHEELING, W. Va. -- The Grove City College men's golf team is in second place after the first day of the two-day Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Speidel Golf Course. Grove City accumulated 319 team strokes, trailing only Washington and Jefferson (298). Westminster (321), Waynesburg (329), Thomas More (346), Thiel (347) and Bethany (349) round out the field.

Freshman Dan Statler (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) is currently tied for third overall after firing a 74. Sophomore Tyler Fitch (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian), the 2005 PAC Player of the Year, shot an 80 and is tied for ninth overall. Westminster's Jeff Skubick is the overall leader after firing a 70 Thursday.

Second-day action will begin Friday morning.
