Wolverines open 2008 season

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team placed fifth at Westminster College's 11-team Titan Invitational Monday afternoon at New Castle Country Club. Grove City accumulated 328 team strokes, one shot behind fourth-place Slippery Rock. Carnegie Mellon won the team title with a team score of 300.

Senior Tyler Fitch (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) placed sixth overall with a round of 76. Freshman Troy Demmer (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) tied for 15th with an 83. Saint Vincent's Doug Mehall earned medalist with a 71.

Grove City will compete in the John Carroll Invitational Saturday in Cleveland.
