Fitch earns 2nd at PAC Championships; Wolverines take 5th
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- Led by a 71 from senior Tyler Fitch (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) Tuesday afternoon, the Grove City College men's golf team finished fifth at the seven-team Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Oak Tree County Club.
Grove City shot a 314 Tuesday as a team after posting a 316 Monday. The Wolverines' two-day score of 630 placed them third out of seven teams. Including their scores from PAC competition in the fall and earlier this spring, Grove City posted a final eight-round team score of 2658. Washington & Jefferson won the team title with 2453 total strokes, followed by Thomas More (2548), Westminster (2642) and Waynesburg (2649).
Fitch tied for medalist honors with a six-round score of 447 with W&J's Brad Cieslinski. Cieslinski won a one-hole playoff with Fitch for the conference's individual title. Fitch shot a 146 over 36 holes Monday and Tuesday to earn First Team All-PAC honors.
Freshman Matt Landin (Sugar Grove, Pa./Eisenhower) tied for 21st with a six-round score of 495. Landin shot a 78 Tuesday and finished with a 161 at Oak Tree.
Grove City will wrap up the 2008 season Monday afternoon as the Wolverines host the annual McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational at Grove City Country Club.
