Wolverines host 'MBA' Invitational
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team hosted seven other programs in the annual McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational Monday afternoon at Grove City Country Club in the Wolverines' 2010 season finale.
Grove City entered two teams in the nine-team field. The Crimson squad placed sixth with a team score of 324 while Grove City White earned seventh at 325. Notre Dame (Ohio) won the team title with a cumulative score of 304. Saint Vincent took second with a 307.
Junior Matt Landin (Sugar Grove, Pa./Eisenhower) led the White team by finishing 15th in the 47-golfer field with a 78. Freshman Billy Van Treueren (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) shot a 79 for the White team, good for 17th.
For the Grove City Crimson team, freshman Blake Brogan (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and sophomore Ian Finney (Valencia, Pa./Mars) tied for 22nd as each golfer shot an 80.
Point Park's Darin Kowalski earned medalist honors with a 1-under 71. Point Park's Austin Elder and Saint Vincent's Jeff Varga both shot 72s.
The event is named in honor of three gentlemen who have made a profound impact on Grove City College and its golf program: longtime trustee Milford "Miff" McBride, former golf coach and director of athletics R. Jack Behringer and longtime Grove City golf coach Bill Allen.
