Grove City opens 2012 season

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team placed sixth out of 11 teams at the Westminster College Invitational Monday afternoon at New Castle Country Club. The Wolverines compiled a team score of 342. Carnegie Mellon won the team title with a 313 and Clarion finished second at 321.

Sophomore Conor Eckhardt (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg) led Grove City with a round of 81. Eckhardt, who competed as an individual, finished eighth in the 66-golfer field.

Carnegie Mellon's Ian Bangor earned medalist honors with a 73.

Grove City will return to action at the Malone University Invitational April 13-14.
