Wolverines 4th at Fall Invitational
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team placed fourth out of eight teams at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Oak Tree Country Club. Grove City's five-man squad posted a team score of 625 for 36 holes, including a 306 on Tuesday.
Saint Vincent won the Invitational with a score of 605, followed by Washington & Jefferson (617) and Thiel (621).
Sophomore Christian Locher (Mars, Pa./Mars) led Grove City by taking fourth overall with a two-day score of 150. He finished just five shots behind medalist Micah Markantone of Saint Vincent.
Senior Blake Brogan (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) placed seventh with a 152 and sophomore Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) tied for 14th at 158.
The team scores from the Fall Invitational will carry over into the spring championships, scheduled for April 22-23, 2012. The individual scores do not count toward All-PAC honors, however. The All-Conference teams will solely be based upon the spring portion of the championships.
