Grove City wins home invitational
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Junior Christian Locher (Mars, Pa./Mars) earned medalist honors with a 71 to lead the Grove City College men's golf team to the team title at their own Fall Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Grove City Country Club.
The Wolverines shot a 311 to finish six strokes ahead of second-place Thiel. Saint Vincent placed third with a 322 while Westminster (328) and Houghton (367) rounded out the field.
Freshman Austin Eckhardt (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg) shot a 78 to finish fifth overall for Grove City while junior Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) tied for sixth with a 79. Senior Conor Eckhardt's (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg) 83 rounded out the counting scores for the Wolverines.
Grove City returns to action on Monday at the Penn State-Altoona Invitational.
