Wolverines 3rd at PAC Fall Invitational; Giesler co-medalist

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- Junior Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) posted a two-day total of 144 to earn co-medalist honors and lead the Grove City College men's golf team to a third-place finish at the eight-team Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Oak Tree Country Club.

Grove City's five-man squad posted a team score of 608 for 36 holes, including a 298 on Tuesday.

Saint Vincent won the Invitational with a score of 588 while Washington & Jefferson edged the Wolverines by shooting a 604.

Standing in eighth place with a 75 after day one, Giesler carded a 69 on Tuesday to leap into a tie with Saint Vincent's Derek Lingafelt for first place individually. Giesler's 69 was the low round of the tournament and the lowest PAC Fall Invitational score since 2011.

Junior Christian Locher (Mars, Pa./Mars) finished fifth overall with a two-day total of 147 while junior Nick Guiler (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) was 17th with a 158 and senior Conor Eckhardt (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg) was 18th with a 159.

The team scores from the Fall Invitational will carry over into the spring championships, scheduled for April 25-26, 2014 at the Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon, Pa. The individual scores do not count toward All-PAC honors, however. The All-Conference teams will solely be based upon the spring portion of the championships.
