Grove City College Men's Golf

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team captured the team title at its own McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational Friday afternoon at the rain-soaked Grove City Country Club. The Wolverines and Saint Vincent both posted team scores of 320. Grove City earned the team crown due to the No. 5 player having a lower score than Saint Vincent's fifth man.

Junior Christian Locher (Mars, Pa./Mars) earned medalist honors with a 75. He tied for first with Thiel's Bryan Smith but Locher earned the individual title via a scorecard playoff. Junior Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) earned fifth with a 78.

Freshman Austin Eckhardt (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg-Franklin) posted an 85 as Grove City's No. 5 player. Saint Vincent's fifth scorer, Jack Boros, carded an 87. Eckhardt's two-shot edge gave the Wolverines the team title.

Grove City returns to action Saturday at the Thiel Invitational in Greenville, Pa.
