Locher medalist; Grove City third at Bethany
WHEELING, W.Va. -- Junior Christian Locher (Mars, Pa./Mars) earned medalist honors to lead the Grove City College men's golf team to a third-place score of 324 at the five-team Bethany College Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at the Wheeling Country Club.
Locher shot a 73 on the day to lead the 25-golfer field, beating out Mark Vasill of Bethany for the individual victory by three strokes.
Junior Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) tied for eighth with an 81 while junior Nick Guiler (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) and junior Austin Wenger (Lititz, Pa./Lititz Christian) shot 84 and 86, respectively, to round out the counting scores for Grove City
Thomas More won the team title with a four-man score of 315 while Saint Vincent edged the Wolverines for second with a 323.
Grove City returns to action on April 17 at the Saint Vincent Invitational.
