Grove City wins CMU Invitational; Giesler medalist

VERONA, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team captured the team title at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational by recording a team score of 300 Tuesday afternoon at Longue Vue Club. Grove City edged runner-up Saint Vincent (301), third-place finisher California (302) and Point Park (303) for the team crown.

Senior Brian Giesler (Harrisville, Pa./Slippery Rock) earned medalist honors by firing a 1-under 69 Tuesday. He won the individual title by two strokes over California's Jordan Eck. Freshman Jorden Alfery (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel) placed eighth with a 75 for Grove City.

Grove City opened its spring season last Wednesday by winning the team title at its own McBride-Behringer-Allen Invitational. The Wolverines return to action Thursday at the Saint Vincent Invitational in Latrobe, Pa.
