Wolverines drop PAC opener in double OT

GROVE CITY, PA, September 13, 2000--The Wolverine soccer team outshot visiting Waynesburg 23-5 Wednesday, but the Yellow Jackets made two count in a 2-1 double-overtime victory in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

Brian Zombek drilled a 60-foot shot from the left wing midway through the second overtime period to give Waynesburg its third win of the season against one loss.  Grove City fell to 2-2 overall.

The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring in the 11th minute on an unassisted goal by Nick Kopach.  The Wolverines answered in the 18th minute on junior Brian Williams' (Charlotte, NC/First Assembly) first goal of the season, assisted by senior Michael Koerber (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield).

Grove City entered the game ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region after posting a 2-0 win Saturday at Messiah, who ranked sixth in the nation.
