Mount Union deals GCC another loss in OT 

ALLIANCE, OH, September 16, 2000--Grove City (2-3) suffered its second straight overtime defeat Saturday as host Mount Union (5-2) escaped with a 2-1 victory in Alliance, OH.

After a scoreless first half, the Wolverines struck in the 49th minute when Jon Veschio (Mercer, PA/Mercer) buried his first goal of the season off a pass from conference player of the week Andy Shockey (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley).

The Purple Raiders tied the game in the 64th minute and won it two minutes into the first overtime on a break-away goal by Jay Nussbaumer.

Wolverine net-minder Brad Smith (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) made three saves before receiving a red card in the 78th minute when an altercation arose in the box.  Both Smith and a Mount Union player were ejected from the game.

Freshman Joe Shockey (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) took over in goal for the Wolverines and played well, turning back two shots before surrendering the game-winner.
