Grove City blanks Lake Erie, 3-0

PAINESVILLE, OH, October 31, 2000--The Wolverine soccer team ended a three-game winless streak with its seventh shutout of the season Tuesday, beating host Lake Erie College, 3-0.

Senior Mike Koerber (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the year off a pass from senior Steve Harley (Collegeville, PA/Methacton).  Harley also assisted on the second goal, feeding junior Andy Shockey (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg), who netted his fifth goal of the season.  Sophomore Matt Johnston (Titusville, PA/Titusville) rounded out the scoring with his first goal of the year, assisted by freshman Mike Koper (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin).

Sophomore keeper Brad Smith (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) registered three saves as the Wolverines closed their regular season at  9-8-1 overall.  They will host Thiel on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in a Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal match-up.  The winner will play top-seeded Bethany on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Bethany, WV.
