Wolverines net second straight shutout 

GROVE CITY, PA, September 5, 2001--The Grove City College men's soccer team posted its second consecutive shutout Wednesday, blanking visiting Waynesburg College, 2-0.  The Wolverines improved to 2-0 on the season -- their best start since opening the 1996 campaign with seven straight victories.  Waynesburg fell to 0-3.

Wolverine senior midfielder Sam Coffman (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 40th minute, finding the upper right-hand corner of the net.  Freshman forward Dan Bryan (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy) added a goal in the second half off a pass from junior fullback Nate Gilch (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland).  Junior goalkeeper Brad Smith (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) made four saves, notching his second straight shutout and 10th in his career.

Grove City outshot the Yellow Jackets, 28-5.
