GCC tops Thiel, 4-0

GREENVILLE, PA, September 29, 2001--The first-place Wolverines posted their sixth shutout of the season and improved to 5-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 4-0 victory over the Thiel Tomcats in Greenville, Pa. on Saturday.

Grove City, now 7-2 overall, netted the only goal it would need in the 15th minute off the foot of freshman Dan Bryan (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy).  Junior Nate Burgess (Richmond, VA/The Collegiate School) was credited with the assist.

The Wolverines clung to a 1-0 lead at intermission before scoring three times in the first 12 minutes of the second half.  Senior Chris Crefeld (Manchester, NJ/PTHS) tallied the first  insurance goal off a pass from senior Sam Coffman (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland).  Freshman Dustin King (Castalia, OH/Margaretta) buried the next two goals on assists from Crefeld and freshman Peter Williams (Charlotte, NC/First Assembly).

Junior goalkeeper Brad Smith (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) didn't have to make a single save as Thiel failed to put any of its five shots on net.  Grove City recorded 17 shots in the game.
