
GCC back on winning track with eighth shutout
GROVE CITY, PA, October 17, 2001--Senior Brian Williams' (Charlotte, NC/First Assembly)
goal in the 13th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Grove City College
men's soccer team snapped a two-game skid with a 1-0 triumph over visiting
Pitt-Bradford College on Wednesday.
Williams' goal, his third of the year, came off a pass from junior Nate Burgess (Richmond, VA/The Collegiate School).
With the victory, the Wolverines improved to 10-4-0 overall, marking their fourth straight double-digit win season and sixth in the last seven years.
Grove City outshot Pitt-Bradford, 16-3, on its way to its eighth shutout of the season.
The Panthers fell to 7-7-1 overall.
The Wolverines will travel to Washington, PA on Saturday to meet the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents in a game that could determine the league's top seed and tournament host. Both squads will enter the contest tied for first place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference at 5-1. Grove City beat W&J in the first meeting, 3-1, on Sep. 22.
