
Wolverines rally to tie Frostburg, 2-2
FROSTBURG, MD, October 27, 2001--Senior Chris Crefled (Manchester, NJ/PTHS)
scored a pair of goals in the final 19 minutes of regulation to help Grove City
College salvage a 2-2 double-overtime tie at snowy Frostburg State University on
Saturday.
The Wolverines (11-5-1) fell behind 2-0 as the Bobcats (10-6-1) struck with goals in the 16th and 58th minutes.
Crefeld cut the lead in half in the 71st minute with a 20-foot blast into the top corner of the net. Freshman Dan Ryan (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy) assisted on the goal.
The Wolverines then took advantage of a Bobcat red card with 12 minutes left in regulation, getting the equalizer in the 84th minute when Crefeld took a pass from sophomore Mike Koper (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) and netted his sixth goal of the year.
Wolverine junior goalkeeper Brad Smith (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was credited with 12 saves.
Frostburg outshot Grove City, 18-16.
The Wolverines will close their regular season at home on Monday against Thiel College on Senior Day.
