Wolverines maintain grip on PAC lead
BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team improved to 3-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory at Bethany.
Freshman forward Bob McNees (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) scored twice while sophomore Nathaniel Jones (Haymarket, Va./Emmanuel Christian) assisted on both goals.
McNees' goal at 19:54 put the Wolverines (4-2-1, 3-0) up 1-0. Bethany forged a 1-1 tie by halftime but Grove City then picked up the game-winner in the 56th minute as McNees scored off a Jones assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Joel Gladfelter (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) stopped three shots for the Wolverines, who outshot Bethany 10-8.
Grove City visits defending conference champion Westminster Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The Wolverines sit atop the PAC with their 3-0 record.
