Wolverines drop opener to Point Park, 2-1
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team opened the 2005 season with a 2-1 loss to visiting Point Park Friday evening at College Field.
Following a scoreless first half, the Wolverines (0-1) pulled ahead in the 68th minute on a goal from senior forward Nate Jones (Haymarket, Va./Emmanuel Christian). Junior Bob McNees (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) supplied the assist.
However, Point Park scored twice in the final nine minutes to grab the victory. Deo Alexander tied the match in the 82nd minute while Arthur Chanda Chileshe scored the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped six shots for Grove City. The Wolverines out-shot Point Park, 14-11.
Grove City will host Mount St. Joseph Saturday at 11 a.m.
