Grove City evens record with 2-1 victory
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team evened its record at 1-1 Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Mount St. Joseph at College Field.
The Wolverines (1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute as Mount St. Joseph scored an "own goal". Two minutes later, junior forward Bob McNees (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) doubled the lead by scoring on a penalty kick.
Mount St. Joseph cut the lead to 2-1 in the 26th minute as Evan Rogers scored off a penalty kick. The Wolverines out-shot Mount St. Joseph, 20-8. In goal, sophomore Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) earned his first collegiate win by stopping six shots.
The Wolverines will open Presidents' Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon against Bethany at 3 p.m.
