Wolverines rally for 1-1 draw against Geneva

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team battled longtime rival Geneva to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at College Field Friday afternoon.

The Wolverines (5-3-2) fell behind 1-0 in the 70th minute on a penalty kick goal by Geneva's Alex Moseley. However, Grove City tied the match in the 85th minute as senior forward Nate Jones (Haymarket, Va./Emmanuel Christian) scored off an assist from senior Adam Ludwig (Farmington, N.M./Farmington).

Grove City owned a 13-10 edge in shots after being out-shot 6-1 in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped four shots, including one in the second overtime, to preserve the tie.

The Wolverines are now 1-0-2 in their last three matches against Geneva. Grove City will induct Jim Pontier, '68 and Philip Ahlschlager, '75, into its Men's Soccer Hall of Fame Saturday as part of Homecoming Weekend. Grove City will also play its annual Alumni Match Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
