Grove City tops Bethany in overtime

BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team earned a 1-0 double-overtime victory over host Bethany Saturday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Hoag Field. Grove City improves to 9-4-3 overall and 7-1-1 in the PAC with the victory.

Junior defender Stuart McCommas (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) scored the game-winner at 107:41 on a corner kick. Junior defender Brendan McCommas (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax), his twin brother, assisted on the goal. It is Stuart McCommas' first goal of the season.

In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) had nine saves, including three in overtime. It is Grove City's eighth shutout of the season and fifth in the Wolverines' last six matches.

Bethany (11-4-1, 7-2-1 PAC) out-shot Grove City, 14-13. The match featured 45 total fouls, 25 by the Bison.

Grove City will visit Thiel Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. in a PAC match.
