Grove City blanks Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team posted its sixth straight shutout in Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon as the Wolverines (10-4-4, 8-1-2, PAC) earned a 1-0 win at Waynesburg.

Junior forward Bob McNees (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) broke a scoreless tie at 21:26 with an unassisted goal. It is McNees' 15th goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) recorded his 10th shutout of the season by making three saves. Grove City out-shot the Yellow Jackets (5-12-1, 2-9-1), 23-10. It is the second straight season that Grove City has posted 10 shutouts.

The Wolverines will be the No. 2 seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament and will host third-seeded Bethany in a tournament semifinal match. The day and time of that semifinal have not been determined.

Grove City will visit Washington and Jefferson (10-1 PAC) Saturday afternoon in both teams' regular-season finale. Washington and Jefferson clinched home-field advantage for the PAC Tournament with a 2-0 win at Bethany Wednesday. Grove City is the only team to defeat the Presidents in PAC play this season.
