CMU snaps Grove City win streak

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team fell to 3-2 this season with a 2-0 loss to visiting Carnegie Mellon (4-0) Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match at rain-soaked College Field.

Following a 0-0 first half, Carnegie Mellon broke the scoreless tie in the 53rd minute as senior Sean Filipovitz scored an unassisted goal. The Tartans then extended the lead to 2-0 at 63:11 on a goal by Ricky Griffin.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped seven shots in goal for Grove City. Carnegie Mellon owned a 12-7 edge in shots.

Grove City will continue its seven-match homestand Saturday afternoon against Geneva at 1 p.m.
