Wolverines blank Geneva, 2-0

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team recorded its fourth shutout victory of 2006 Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines toppled NAIA member Geneva at College Field, 2-0, in non-conference action.

Grove City (4-2) took a 1-0 lead just 5:33 into the match as senior forward Bob McNees (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) scored on a free kick. McNees then helped seal the win at 75:03 with his eighth goal of the season. Sophomore Tyler Ferrier (Newtown Square, Pa./Delaware County Christian) assisted McNees.

In goal, junior Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) posted four saves to record his fourth shutout win this year. Grove City owned a 17-8 shot edge. The Wolverines also had eight corner kicks, compared to just one for Geneva (0-4-1).

Grove City will conclude a seven-match homestand Wednesday afternoon against Penn State Behrend at 4 p.m.
