Grove City battles W&J to 0-0 draw

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team is 5-3-1 overall after playing host Washington & Jefferson to a 0-0, double-overtime draw Wednesday night at Alexandre Stadium. It was the first meeting between the teams since Grove City pulled out a 2-1 victory over the Presidents in the 2005 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament finals last November.

The teams combined for just 16 total shots, with Grove City owning a 9-7 edge. W&J (3-5-3) did own an 11-9 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, junior Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped five shots for Grove City.

Because the PAC has adopted a single round-robin format for its soccer schedule, only the second meeting between two PAC teams will count towards the conference standings. Grove City will host Washington & Jefferson Oct. 21 in the teams' conference match.

Grove City opens PAC play Saturday at Waynesburg at 3 p.m.
