Grove City falls to Bethany, 1-0
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team fell to 1-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Friday afternoon with a 1-0 home loss to PAC rival Bethany at College Field.
Bethany (11-2-2, 4-0 PAC) broke a scoreless tie at 50:49 as Andrew McPherson scored off Mike Aivalis' assist. Bethany owned an 8-6 edge in shots. Grove City (6-5-1 overall) had 12 corner kicks, including 10 in the second half. The Bison had four corners.
Junior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped three shots for Grove City.
The Wolverines return to action Wednesday at Saint Vincent. Grove City will play its annual Hall of Fame Game Saturday morning as part of Homecoming Weekend. The College will induct Vaughn "Stu" Irwin '53, Jon Bornholm '78 and Dr. Don Lyle into its Men's Soccer Hall of Fame Saturday.
