Grove City blanks W&J in PAC clash, 2-0

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior Jonathan Mahtani (Elk Grove, Ill./Trinity Christian, Pa.) and sophomore Tyler Ferrier (Newtown Square, Pa./Delaware County Christian) each scored second-half goals Saturday, helping lift host Grove City to a 2-0 win over Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference men's soccer match at College Field.

Ferrier broke a scoreless tie at 55:55 with his second goal in as many matches. Junior Eli Lamborn (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) assisted Ferrier. Then, Mahtani added an insurance goal at 72:53, helping seal the victory. Junior Chad Ashby (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Academy) assisted on the goal. Ashby leads the Wolverines with three assists this year.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) earned the shutout for Grove City (8-5-1, 2-2 PAC) by stopping six shots. It is Manahan's seventh shutout this year.

Each team had 11 shots. W&J fell to 5-7-4 overall and 2-1-2 in the PAC.

Grove City will host Thiel in a PAC match Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
