Grove City slips past Lake Erie in OT

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Senior forward Bob McNees (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season 6:28 into overtime, giving the Grove City College men's soccer team a 2-1 victory at Lake Erie in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon. Grove City is now 10-5-1 overall.

McNees scored the game-winner following an assist from junior Chad Ashby (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Academy). It is Ashby's team-leading fifth assist of the season.

Grove City fell behind 1-0 in the 22nd minute on a goal by Lake Erie's Jason Jerome. The Wolverines tied the match 10 minutes later as sophomore Tyler Ferrier (Newtown Square, Pa./Delaware County Christian) scored his third goal of the season at 31:34. Senior Jonathan Breese (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) assisted Ferrier.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) tallied four saves for the Wolverines. Grove City out-shot the Storm, 13-9.

The Wolverines will host Thomas More Saturday at 2 p.m. in Grove City's PAC and regular season finale.
