Wolverines eliminated from PAC Tournament

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to host Westminster Tuesday afternoon in the semifinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. Grove City, the No. 3 seed, is eliminated from the tournament. Second-seeded Westminster will play top seed Bethany in Saturday's final.

Westminster (11-6-2) took a 1-0 lead at 34:20 on a goal from Matt Tomnay. The Titans then extended their lead to 2-0 at 49:44 on a Blake Ordell goal. Westminster added an insurance goal at 88:00 as Brice Lott scored his sixth goal of the season.

In goal, junior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped six shots for the Wolverines (11-6-1). Westminster owned an 18-12 edge in shots. Grove City had seven corner kicks, compared to just two for the Titans.

Grove City won the 2005 PAC Championship Tournament. The loss snaps the Wolverines' five-match win streak. Westminster won the regular-season meeting Oct. 11, 1-0, in New Wilmington.
