Gettysburg tops Grove City, 2-0

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Gettysburg Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championship Tournament at Carnegie Mellon University's Gesling Stadium. The Wolverines conclude the 2006 season with an 11-7-2 mark.

Gettysburg, the No. 5 seed, scored twice in the second half to earn the victory. Kieran Lade scored at 67:43 to give the Bullets (12-5-4) at 1-0 lead. Gettysburg sealed the win at 81:25 on a goal from Ryan Peiffer. Gettysburg owned a 15-4 edge in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped five shots for Grove City, which entered the tournament as the No. 8 seed. Grove City advanced to the ECAC finals in 2005.

Gettysburg will play either CMU or Alvernia in Sunday afternoon's final.
