Penn State Altoona nips Grove City, 1-0
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team opened the 2007 season with a 1-0 setback against visiting Penn State Altoona Friday evening at College Field.
Penn State Altoona (1-0) broke a scoreless tie in the 75th minute as Bryan Pierzga scored off a free kick.
For Grove City (0-1), senior goalkeeper Michael Manahan (State College, Pa./State College) stopped five shots. Penn State Altoona out-shot Grove City, 13-5. The Lions also had six corner kicks, compared to two for Grove City.
Grove City will visit La Roche Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
